The Managing Director of Cygnet Communications Limited is Dr Simon Alderson. He is an English language expert with a high-level background in academia. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge in the UK, and has taught and conducted research at the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford. For ten years from 1997, he lectured in the School of English of the University of Hong Kong, and was an honorary professor from 2006 to 2017.

Dr Alderson has also authored a series of English-language textbooks for Hong Kong educational publisher Aristo Educational Press Ltd., which have been widely used in secondary schools across Hong Kong. He has also published academic articles, along with articles and reviews in The Times and the South China Morning Post.
